Vintage Needlepoint Dutch Tapestry De Goudweger Petit Point Emb 14 x 18"

Description

This beautiful tapestry shows a needlepoint canvas with a Dutch scene. The inspiration for this tapestry is Solomon Koninck, a Dutch artist in the mid 17th century. He moved in the same circles as Rembrandt and this is a needlepoint copy of one of Rembrandt's work entitled "de Goudweger". This piece is a portrait of an old bearded man with a purple hat involved in weighing gold and coins. The background is in grays and browns, with lighting filtering in through a paned window.
The stamp at the bottom reads S. Koninck De Goudweger. I believe this tapestray was made in Germany. The white-bearded gentleman is ..... This canvas tapestry measures 14" wide x 18 1/2" height.
It is a finished piece but needs to be mounted or framed.
