    Description

Thank you for checking out my listing! Up for bid today is a fantastic antique stoneware mug for Eder-Brau out of Grassostheim (or Großostheim), Bavaria. These mugs are hard to find, especially in the States, and typically when they come up for sale are the larger one liter size. This one is the half liter size, which is tougher to find. Eder-Brau appears to trace back to about 1779, and still remains today as Eder & Heylands Brauerie. The base of the mug is about 3 7/8 inches in diameter, and the top of the mug is about 3 3/8 in diameter, with the opening measuring about 2 3/4 inches in diameter.
The mug is in fantastic shape! There are no breaks or chips, and the advertising is clear with very little wear. The most notable damage appears to have been from time, where a crack has appeared at the bottom of the handle. There are no cracks at the top of the handle, so this seems to have been from age and not from being dropped. That being said, I am not sure that the handle is structurally sound enough for the weight of liquid, so this is being marketed as a collector's item instead. At the top left of the handle, the half-liter mark is imprinted into the mug. There is some slight staining and wear, but overall for the age is in very good condition!
Overall this is a fantastic stoneware mug and would make an excellent addition to any breweriana collection!
