    Description

    this is a handicap mobility driving system valued at over ,000. it is designed for the operator to be able to drive a vehicle with minimal hand motion. the driver is able to operate the vehicle, gas/ brake and steering with external controls that are integrated into the vehicle computers. this was removed from 2016 Ford Explorer Braunability mxv. but can be used for other vehicles.

    PRIMARY CONTROLS
    …are the driver input devices necessary for controlling the Gas/Brake and Steering functions of a motor vehicle. The “plug and play” design of AEVIT 2.0

    allows you to build your system with the input devices that fit your physical needs. If your needs should change in the future, simply plug in a different input device.
    A brief explanation of how AEVIT 2.0
    ®
    “drive-by-wire” Input Devices control your vehicle is given below:
    “Drive-by-wire” means that the movements made by the driver with the steering Input Device (joystick, yoke, wheel, etc.), is not transmitted mechanically via the steering column, through to the steering rack, and then to the front wheels as in conventional control.
    Instead, the driver’s physical movement on the steering Input Device, is sensed and converted into a digital electronic signal that is transmitted to intelligent Drive Modules that in turn command intelligent Electromechanical Servos to steer the front wheels. The same method of control is applied to the braking and acceleration of the vehicle.
    SECONDARY CONTROLS
    …are all other electro-mechanical functions of the motor vehicle such as lights, wipers, shift, etc.. The “compact flash upgrade” drive of AEVIT 2.0

    allows you to load your system with the secondary switch inputs that fit your physical needs. If your needs should change in the future, simply plug in a different compact flash card to access additional secondary switch functions.

    Secondary Control capabilities in your vehicle is given below:
    All vehicle functions other than steering, acceleration, and braking… are called secondary controls.
    To fully realize the capability of AEVIT 2.0

    , or “by-wire” control systems, many/all of these secondary controls such as ignition/start, wipers, turn signals, hi/lo beams, shifting, park brake, etc., must be operated in a more convenient manner.
    This most probably is due to “range of motion” and/or required effort… or possibly you require multiple, alternative ways of accessing those vehicle functions.
    Typical Installation
    Now that you understand the difference between Primary and Secondary controls, here is what a typical installation looks like in a lowered floor minivan for a wheelchair driver.
    The Chassis typically is mounted up front in the vehicle next to the passenger seat, and does not inhibit wheelchair maneuvering into the drivers area.
    The Servomotors are located under the drivers dash area and connect mechanically to the steering column and the gas/brake pedals. These servomotors can be “disengaged” to allow operation of the vehicle utilizing the factory controls in less than 10-seconds, and do not interfere with the driver.
    The specially designed Mounting Systems are required for all AEVIT 2.0

    Input devices and VGA Displays. They feature shock ball mounting with articulating arms that allow all controls to be positioned perfectly for each driver. They are available in door and floor mounting designs.
