4 vintage Hires root beer mugs – all different

This is a group of 4
Hires brand root beer mugs of which three are the same basic mug design but different from each other due to the size and graphics. The fourth is a Mettlach Villeroy & Bach #3095 “Ugly Boy” design. The two shorter pottery mugs
measure almost 6-1/4” tall while the third mug is 7”. The V&B mug is 4-1/4” tall. Each mug has a problem making them great to repurpose as window sill herb garden pots (? you decide) – 7” Hires has two hairline cracks, one 2” and another 1-1/4”, that meet forming a “V” in the rim and also has a couple factory flaws, inside and outside where the handle is attached to the body plus a 3/8” dark spot on the handle - 6-1/4” Hires would be problem free except for a 3/8” glaze pop/chip on the base – 6-1/4” Drink Hires It Is Pure has about a 2-3/4” hairline crack running down from the rim and a glaze pop on the left near the logo. Ugly Boy has a major 1-1/8” chip out of the base and some staining. All have some crazing

Typically, pottery mugs were not very fancy so they could be mass produced and may have slight gouges, pockmarks, small lumps or other factory imperfections sealed under the glaze while Mettlach products were higher quality.
